  • Advertising Campaign

I earned a post-graduate certificate in marketing from Conestoga College in 2017, and one of my assignments involved creating an Integrated Marketing Communications Plan for a company. I chose Gap and conducted research about the brand. For the plan, I asked my brother, Mohsen, and my sister-in-law, Mohana, to send me some pictures of my handsome nephew, Mehrad. They took him to a photo gallery, where they captured this amazing photo.

Here is a summary of my advertising campaign:

To increase sales by 20%, it is advised to run the advertising campaign on Facebook for parents and grandparents who have a baby.

    Time: 3 Months from ….. to ……

The key messages in this campaign:

    • Being loyal to Gap at an early age

    • Being  fashionable together

    • I love Gap

    • we love Gap

A free photo booth inside stores If customers spend over $100!

I know! He is adorable like his aunt! 😉

I would love to know what do you think about this plan?!

  • PAINTING OF QUARANTINE

I have loved painting since I was little, I love colors, and the whole process of creating. This is an easy painting to try during this quarantine time.

What you need is a set of 3 canvases size 18″24″, a set of brushes, three colors, white, medium blue, and brown. First, mix 2/3 of white with 1/3 blue Make a good amount of paint and brush the entire canvas and let it dry. Repeat it again for a second time, until your background is ready. After that you need to use brown to do the tree. To make it easier I suggest you draw the tree first and then fill it with brown, and here is the result. Please let me know what do you think about my painting, and also if you want I would be happy to paint this for you.

  • One of My Favorite Books

One of the most influential books on business is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, which has been translated into 38 languages. This book gained worldwide popularity and has impacted countless individuals across different cultures.

In my opinion, one of the most valuable habits this book teaches is the importance of being a good listener, which greatly enhances communication skills in the workplace. Listening to customers to understand their needs is crucial. Additionally, carefully listening to others before responding has had a significant impact on my life, as it helps me better understand their perspectives. Many misunderstandings in business occur because people often prioritize speaking over listening. I strive to be a better listener to foster more effective and meaningful communication.

  • My Interview with Becca

Becca Grieb was one of my favorite professors when I studied for my post graduate certificate in integrated marketing communications at Conestoga College. She is a very successful business woman and educator who has expert knowledge of social media and public relations.

Since graduation, I have kept in touch with her through social media.  To me, she is an example of how to be successful in modern communications, and I asked her for an interview for my blog.  I am thrilled that she accepted. Here is our conversation:

    1.background and education

I started working in communications in 2008, and in 2012 I started BG Communications, acting as a Public Relations and Digital Marketing consultant to various businesses. I have a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University; a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations & Corporate Communications from Fanshawe College; and a MA in Communications and Technology from the University of Alberta.

    2. When I read your blog, I was really impressed with your goals; especially when I read that you are going to travel to South Africa to help female entrepreneurs and teachers better understand social media. What led to this plan?

Thank you! I’ve always enjoyed teaching, mentoring and advising in the field of communications and digital marketing, especially for young women. Years ago, I wanted to travel to teach English abroad, but timing didn’t end up working out. After teaching at the college level for the last 4 years, I have come to understand that students aren’t the only ones that can benefit from learning about digital marketing… it’s business owners, too! So, I’d like to head to South Africa in 2020 to help female entrepreneurs to better use these digital platforms to help their businesses to grow.

    3. What is your favorite part of your job or any project? Why?

My favourite part of any project is the people and the stories behind them. Every business has a story to tell and I am passionate about using the right tools to help craft and share these stories. Digital marketing tools are powerful in delivering messages to the right audiences at the right time.

     4.  What do you find difficult in this job?

At the same time, digital marketing has taken even very local businesses to a global scale. Brands now have to be aware that they are speaking to a wider scope of individuals than they think they are.

5.what would your advice be to someone trying to enter this field?

Constantly be learning. Digital marketing is always changing – you have to keep up!

  • What is International Business?

    What is International Business?

There are many definitions of international business, but in simple terms, it refers to conducting business with other countries. When a company decides to sell its products or services in an international market, several important factors must be considered.

    Key Considerations for Expanding Globally

    1. Understanding Different Cultures

Cultural awareness is crucial for successful international business. Before entering a new market, companies must research the country’s customs, lifestyle, food, language, and social norms. Even small details—such as how people greet each other—can influence business relationships.

    2. Ensuring a Suitable Brand Name and Messaging

When translating product names or slogans, companies must carefully consider language nuances to avoid misinterpretations or unintended meanings. A poorly translated slogan or an offensive cultural reference can harm a brand’s reputation and deter potential customers.

    3. Paying Attention to Marketing Details

Before launching a product in a new market, businesses should thoroughly review all advertising materials to prevent errors or culturally insensitive messaging. Careful planning can help minimize risks and increase the chances of success in a global marketplace.

This version improves readability, professionalism, and flow while maintaining your core message. Let me know if you’d like any further adjustments!

  • The Importance of International Communication

    The Importance of International Communication

International communication refers to the exchange of information between people from different countries or cultural backgrounds. With globalization rapidly expanding, effective communication across borders has become essential, especially for those who enjoy traveling and working in dynamic environments.

Many international companies seek employees who speak multiple languages and are comfortable traveling abroad. As global markets continue to grow, professionals with strong cross-cultural communication skills are in high demand.

Effective communication is crucial in international business. For example, body language plays a significant role in conveying messages across different cultures.

When I first started working as an import manager at an international company, I had to travel to Vietnam and China. Initially, I didn’t realize how much cross-cultural communication could impact my work. However, I soon understood the importance of making an effort to connect with people from different backgrounds. Learning simple greetings in Chinese and Vietnamese helped me build stronger relationships, which ultimately contributed to my promotion.

Today, I continue to maintain friendships with people from various cultures, and I truly enjoy learning from them and improving my international communication skills.

This version enhances clarity and professionalism while keeping your personal experience engaging.

  • Essential Tips for Women in Business

Essential Tips for Women in Business

    1. Always Pay Attention to Your Appearance

As a businesswoman, your appearance plays a key role in making a strong first impression. In professional settings, wearing appropriate attire is crucial, whether for meetings or trade shows. Plan your outfit, hairstyle, makeup, and even your nails in advance to ensure you present yourself professionally.

If you’re attending a conference or traveling abroad for work, research local customs to ensure your attire is culturally appropriate. You can look up guidelines online or ask someone familiar with the country’s business etiquette.

    2. Use a Simple and Memorable Name on Your Business Card

If your name is long or difficult for international clients to pronounce, using a simple and professional nickname can make networking easier. For example, my full name is Marziye, but I go by Mary in business to avoid confusion, especially in global markets. A clear and easy-to-remember name helps build stronger connections.

    3. Think Globally, Act Globally

Working in an international market requires a global mindset. Stay informed about global trends, cultural differences, and industry updates to make well-informed business decisions.

    4. Embrace Your Strengths as a Woman

Be strong, but stay true to yourself as a woman. Some women feel the need to compete with men in the workplace, but your unique qualities and skills are your greatest strengths. Communicate with confidence while maintaining your natural grace and femininity.

Soft skills—such as empathy, emotional intelligence, and adaptability—are highly valued in today’s business world, and many women naturally excel in these areas. Stay informed, continuously update your knowledge, and be a resourceful professional.

    5. Take Care of Yourself and Love What You Do

Balancing a demanding career can be exhausting, so self-care is essential. Prioritize getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and exercising regularly. Since stress is a natural part of business, find ways to manage it effectively—whether through yoga, meditation, massages, or listening to music. Loving what you do is important, but taking care of yourself is just as vital for long-term success.

This version improves readability while keeping your message strong and professional.

  • Lessons from My Father in International Business

Lessons from My Father in International Business

From my childhood until now, I have always remembered how busy my father is and how much he loves his job. He wanted me to learn more about the business, so I pursued a degree in International Business Management. I believed that business ran in my family, and I was passionate about understanding international markets, interacting with people from different countries, and learning about exports and imports especially in the global seafood industry.

I started working at my father’s company, which specializes in seafood trading exporting shrimp and importing tuna fish. Throughout my journey, I have observed three key characteristics in my father that have been invaluable in international business.

    1. He Is Always Looking for New Ideas

When I traveled with my father to seafood trade shows, he always encouraged me to analyze the event carefully. Afterward, he asked me to write a report on what I found important whether it was booth designs, new products related to aquaculture and the fish industry, or promotional materials like brochures and booklets.

He also encouraged me to come up with new ideas when sourcing products from other countries. For example, three years ago, I identified a reliable company in Indonesia. Before placing a trial order, I suggested that we meet with them in person. My father approved, and we traveled to Indonesia to inspect the quality of their skipjack tuna and establish a relationship. As a result, we not only placed our initial order of three containers but ended up purchasing seven containers so it was great price and very good quality.

    2. He Stays Calm in Difficult Situations

One of the most stressful experiences I faced in business was when my email was hacked. A hacker altered the bank details on a proforma invoice, and I unknowingly transferred the payment to the wrong account. When I informed the seller via WhatsApp that the transfer had been made, he immediately responded No, Mary! This is not my account number.

I was in shock. I checked the invoice again and had a video call with the seller, who showed me the correct bank details. At that moment, I realized my email had been compromised. I went to my father office in tears while he was on a call. The moment he saw me, he hung up and asked what had happened. After I explained, he remained completely calm and simply told me to take a deep breath. He then contacted the bank immediately and requested them to halt the transaction.

Luckily, since the bank was still processing the transfer, my father quick action prevented the funds from reaching the hacker’s account. The bank informed us that such scams were becoming increasingly common, and many companies had lost money to professional hackers. That day, I learned the importance of staying composed during difficult times something my father has mastered. Instead of panicking, he focused on finding a solution, and his calmness helped save our money.

    3. He Works Hard and Never Complains

My father wakes up early, works tirelessly from morning until night, and even dedicates his weekends to the business. From him, I have learned that loving what you do means being willing to put in the time and effort.

Since my role involves constant communication, calling, texting, and responding to emails I sometimes felt frustrated when my father asked me to handle work matters on weekends. In Iran, Friday is our weekend, but since I worked with companies in China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, I often had to be available on Saturdays and Sundays as well. At times, I would complain that I needed a break. However, I always saw my father working every day, completely immersed in his job, never showing signs of exhaustion.

Time zone differences meant that I sometimes had to wake up early just to check and respond to emails. My father always reminded me that business requires dedication. By accompanying him to international trade shows and observing his work ethic, I have learned invaluable lessons about commitment and perseverance.
